Thank you Maggie ))) and okayHappy Birthday!
Hi and Happy Birthday.Ok I put a heat Matt on the cool spot and I adjusted it to 85 degrees, Do his eye lids look concerning to you ? Or I’m just overthinking ?
Thank you ! And I just placed it on the cool side, I think this one would be a little more acceptable because it adjust to any heat , what do you think ? And it’s under neath the tank ! It sticks on to the glassHi and Happy Birthday.
Heat mats aren't usually recommended for torts.
How are you using it?
I've never used one but I believe that because tort lungs are on the top, heat from above is more effective. Hopefully someone will be able to advise you more about that.Thank you ! You shouldn't use an under tank heat mat for any species of tortoise. Babies often get burned because some are not smart enuf to get off the mat when they get too hot. You might put it against the side. Those babies are delicateThank you ! Yes I do ! Ok I’ll use it on the side of the tank thank u , I texted the seller and he admitted the tortoise has an eye infection and is willing to send me a replacement, I just feel bad because I feel like this one will pass awayI've never used one but I believe that because tort lungs are on the top, heat from above is more effective. Glad it's not in the tank as that would be a hazard.
Are you using a thermostat with your CHE?
Red bulbs are another thing that aren't generally recommended because torts can see the colour and it confuses them so they'll eat things they shouldn't.
The caresheet should help you.
I'm sure it can be treated easily enough with cream/drops.Yes I do ! Ok I’ll use it on the side of the tank thank u , I texted the seller and he admitted the tortoise has an eye infection and is willing to send me a replacement, I just feel bad because I feel like this one will pass away
Your absolutely right, I’m just a lil bothered they send me a sick tortoises , but ur right in Gonna take your advice and just try to heal himI'm sure it can be treated easily enough with cream/drops.
If my tort eyes look a bit swollen I gently drop some saline solution that people with contact lenses use onto them to clean it.
If the person you bought him from sent him to you knowing he had an eye infection I don't think he'll care for him so I doubt last long if you send him back.
Will he refund you some of the money instead.
Maybe @ZenHerper @Yvonne G or @Tom or @zovick can advise you.
They are used to dealing with tort ailments.
That's great.Your absolutely right, I’m just a lil bothered they send me a sick tortoises , but ur right in Gonna take your advice and just try to heal him

You'll get great advice from one of the people I've tagged or even others who've treated eyes.
You too!Hey thank you so much to everyone ! I really appreciate you guys !!! Have a blessed day !
Thank you so much !!!Happy birthday Zackary!
Hope your little buddy gets better soon. If it is not something too serious, eye drops can definitely be something you can try.
I think I also read someone suggesting terramycin ointment:
Thank uIf you can get a bottle of this, it should solve your problem with the eyes. You have to get it from a vet, so it can be a little awkward. But it should do the job.

In the meantime, you can get this from Amazon, or sometimes you can buy it in a well stocked Petco or Persmart. It will help if you can't get the other, or use this until you get the other.

Thank uYour tortoise's eyes don't look very bad to me. As long as the tortoise is eating well and acting normally I think you are worrying too much. Karen suggested the best solution for you above. Get those first drops she recommended from a vet and put a drop in each eye twice daily for about a week to ten days and all should be fine.
They should usually be very active but, sleeping is something they really love to do. Where did you get this beautiful star tortoiseView attachment 319413
So I had purchased this beautiful star tortoise from a website and just got him a few days ago , I’m very concerned with his eye lids, all though There always open, and he eats with no problems, I’m just concerned with his eye lids ! He does sleep a lot but I’m assuming that’s normal for him being so young ! Should I be worried ? Have u had any experiences with this before ? Please let me know !!
