Ok I put a heat Matt on the cool spot and I adjusted it to 85 degrees, Do his eye lids look concerning to you ? Or I’m just overthinking ?
Hi and Happy Birthday.
Heat mats aren't usually recommended for torts.
How are you using it?

Thank you ! And I just placed it on the cool side, I think this one would be a little more acceptable because it adjust to any heat , what do you think ? And it’s under neath the tank ! It sticks on to the glass
I've never used one but I believe that because tort lungs are on the top, heat from above is more effective. Hopefully someone will be able to advise you more about that.
Glad it's not in the tank as that would be a hazard.
Are you using a thermostat with your CHE?
Red bulbs are another thing that aren't generally recommended because torts can see the colour and it confuses them so they'll eat things they shouldn't.
The caresheet should help you.

You shouldn't use an under tank heat mat for any species of tortoise. Babies often get burned because some are not smart enuf to get off the mat when they get too hot. You might put it against the side. Those babies are delicate

I'm sure it can be treated easily enough with cream/drops.
If my tort eyes look a bit swollen I gently drop some saline solution that people with contact lenses use onto them to clean it.
If the person you bought him from sent him to you knowing he had an eye infection I don't think he'll care for him so I doubt he'll last long if you send him back.:(
Will he refund you some of the money instead.

Maybe @ZenHerper @Yvonne G or @Tom or @zovick can advise you.
They are used to dealing with tort ailments.

That's great.
You'll get great advice from one of the people I've tagged or even others who've treated eyes.

If you can get a bottle of this, it should solve your problem with the eyes. You have to get it from a vet, so it can be a little awkward. But it should do the job.

In the meantime, you can get this from Amazon, or sometimes you can buy it in a well stocked Petco or Persmart. It will help if you can't get the other, or use this until you get the other.

Your tortoise's eyes don't look very bad to me. As long as the tortoise is eating well and acting normally I think you are worrying too much. Karen suggested the best solution for you above. Get those first drops she recommended from a vet and put a drop in each eye twice daily for about a week to ten days and all should be fine.

So I had purchased this beautiful star tortoise from a website and just got him a few days ago , I’m very concerned with his eye lids, all though There always open, and he eats with no problems, I’m just concerned with his eye lids ! He does sleep a lot but I’m assuming that’s normal for him being so young ! Should I be worried ? Have u had any experiences with this before ? Please let me know !!:(
They should usually be very active but, sleeping is something they really love to do. Where did you get this beautiful star tortoise
