Yup! Our soil consists of clay and stones! :dodgy:
I was planning on removing the ground and mixing it eith sand etc. to make it mote diggable and to make it drain better.

Furthermore the cold frame should then be fitted pretty seamlessly to a concrete structure in the ground. This should keep floodings at bay as well.

I don't think that I'll be doing this earlier than 4-5 years from now on, so I still have lots of time to plan and learn. :D

Thanks! :shy:
I am sooo hyped already for next spring! I have tons of seed waiting to be planted. Now the only thing I can do is a bit of fall cleaning, clearing some of the grass, creating some dirt patches and putting calcium on the ground of the enclosure.

Why, oh why can't it be spring already? :p

My torts haven't been able to go outside since early September. :( I hope we have better weather next yr. We hardly had spring this year--below-0 temps up until mid June!--and a mild summer.

Woah! Below 0 until the middle of june?? We had snow in april and really bad weather and cold until june/july, but no sub-zero temperaturs after april.

It was particularly bad this year. I'm hoping it'll be better next yr. I'm sick and tired of it myself and contemplating moving, again.

Where do you live? These last few years we also had really long winters and not so great summers. This spring I toyed with the idea to pack everything up, grab the tort and move to Italy in our apartement. But then I realized that the weather wasn't much better over there either... :dodgy:

It is amazing how having a tortoise(s) gives you a new perspective on the weather and what you are willing to tolerate!

Hmmmm... Don't know about the torts. I think I already had a different perspective from the minute I set foot in Winnipeg, one very blizzardy January, 7 yrs ago. LOL

I think I will have to move into your tortoise-room! Everytime I check on Peter I get the urge to cuddle up underneath the heat lamp with him. :p
