UV Lighting

I've been using the ZooMed Power Sun UVB Bulb for my russian torts since July of last year. I read somewhere though that these bulbs should be replaced after 6 months because they become less effective. Is that true? What is the recommended replacement cycle for these?

The only real way to KNOW is to get a UV meter and check the output. The actual life is very variable, but 6 months is probably a decent working average for most of the bulbs, however the MVB bulbs generally last at least a few months longer.
