Shell split! Yes, took him to the vet and she was totally not concerned. She felt it was very shallow and looked clean and that it did not need to be treated. I'm keeping an eye on it but feel much better.

~ Did she have any professional opinion as to how or what would cause that?

No, except the obvious that he scrapped himself when moving sideways somehow.

Just a New Year's uncle Brian update. All I can say is he's doing great and growing like a weed – of course! He's going fairly smooth, not quite as smooth as I'd likebut pretty good. The growth over the last six months has been pretty smooth.he's now two years and almost 4 months old, 12 1/2 pounds, 12 inches long, and I freaking love him to death!!!!ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1420504436.831012.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1420504472.676059.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1420504490.422890.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1420504513.851839.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1420504526.036937.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1420504555.517945.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1420504568.229222.jpg

I did cook it. Seemed a bit hard for him otherwise. I'm sure he still would have given it a good go, but he loved it cooked.

Im amazed by the growth rate Uncle Bri is going. How much do you feed him by weight? Or he can eat as much as he likes?

Thanks for the question. He is growing fast! I don't know the amount of food by weight, typically it looks like a small fist sized pile of food – mostly soaked hey, with half a handful Mazuri pellets. He usually eats most, but there is always something left. He typically does not come back for more.

Here is his first go at "rainbow chard"!ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1421672020.301008.jpg

Bri update, 15 lbs @ 2 yr 7 mo. Seems to be doing great, however I am amazed at how much he sleeps. He also uses just a small section of his enclosure. Unless I physically pick him up and move him he won't use half the enclosure at all. I have a large donut shaped rectangle space for him. The idea was to create as much "perimeter" as possible given that he is indoors much of the year. The donut does narrow along one part and I wonder if he is naturally averse to that narrow space?

My leopards were naturally contestant edge walkers and would loop around and around. Even my 1 year old leopard travels the entire entire enclosure al the time. Bri just us not the inquisitive. Hmmm?

Makes me wonder if the donut shape is just not right - maybe I've got to open up the middle to create just one big space.

Any thoughts?ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1427715729.101200.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1427715744.403553.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1427715755.229821.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1427715772.089598.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1427715786.358259.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1427715800.832058.jpg
