I'm thinking about buying a Russian tortoise, and am able to purchase all the equipment I need for it indoors. Is a 6x3 foot enclosure okay, or does it need to be larger?

I think you will get feedback that it should be bigger, and in a perfect world that'd be great, but 18 square feet should be ample for your Russian, especially if you can get them outside a bit in the summer months.

4x8 feet is the recommended. But I agree if you can get him outside for most of the year then 6x3 isnt bad for winter as most people hibernate them.
If this is the only enclosure and he wont get an outside enclosure then I would try to go bigger. Even a second level with a ramp to it will work.

Baby or adult?

Why would you want to keep it indoors when you live in Florida?

Adult. At the house I currently live, the grass is unfortunately sprayed with pesticides. I will be able to bring the tortoise outside though, when I move to a farm.
