Okay you posted yesterday that they have sprouted, it's in a Russian enclosure and it's been a day, so the big question is: are any of them left? :p :D

Personally, I'm threw with growing things in my tortoise enclosure. Either the torties gobble them up or squash them flat, and if they persist, then they either take over and keep the substrate static, or else rot and attract flies. I'm threw with soil as a substrate, too. Me, I like keeping my tank minimal.

I think the best idea I've seen about growing things in an indoor habitat was the one where someone bought several kitty litter pans, punched a few drainage holes in the bottoms, filled them with potting soil and planted the seeds in the pans. When the seeds started to grow, they dug out a space in the substrate in the habitat and set one pan into the substrate. This way they had two more kitty litter pans to substitute for when the one "in use" was trampled or eaten.

Instead of the cat litter pans, I like to use the plastic tubs the spring greens came in. I use the little litter pans tho too, but just because I already had them. :D
