Hey everyone, In the near future I will be purchasing a red foot or a yellow foot tortoise. I was wondering if everyone could post their enclosures to give me an idea on what the enclosure should look like before he/she gets here:) What do you believe would be better for a beginner? A red foot or yellow foot?
Thanks so much:D

Are you looking for a hatchling or adult enclosure? I have a 4 month old redfoot, and can post photos of his enclosure in full if you'd like. (You can search for user @LemmyBites to see the whole build in process, but I can take updated photos of it as it stands now too... I'm attaching a photo or two, but they don't really show off the entire "palace," just the tort itself.) Sheesh, I don't even know. So many Home Depot trips, and some failed attempts! I'd ballpark around $400ish.

Above are used for babies.

The pictures below show part of the outdoor pen for the Redfoots and the recently built, heated house. My husband did all of the building. :)

Placing shade cloth on the top of this enclosure results in much higher humidity levels on a hot day. I wet it down several times a day and the tortoises love it.

Really neat! If only I had the room and money to build that kind of enclosure

Mine aren't nearly as pretty as Kathy's (care to loan me your husband?). This is the RF enclosure:

You can see the YF yard just beyond the RF yard, and the Manouria yard in the foreground.

The last picture was taken last December when the fig tree was going dormant.

My 5 year old redfoot's indoor enclosure. Have yet to build a permanent outdoor enclosure due to lacking a fence (lots of dogs, opossums, and raccoons lurk at night).

These are all really cool!!!
At the end of the day, if the enclosures meet the tortoises needs, we've done good!
