So for this summer I was thinking of buying a kiddy pool for the outdoor enclosure of my Russian tortoise instead of making one out of wood. Is there anything I should know about doing this or is it not a good idea? I just don't want to spend a bunch of money if I don't have to.

Shade, sun--warmth and cool retreat---food for grazing and places for hiding...and security from critters munching on them and security from flooding in the event of a summer rainstorm ....thats all I got :D

I would especially urge you to drill holes in the bottom of the pool. I had my babies in a rubbermade tub on the lawn one day when my sprinklers went off for no reason. I came home to find my babies swimming and/or sitting under water. No one died, thank goodness, but I since have drilled holes in anything I leave outside. You never know when it might rain (or something weird like the sprinklers going off.) Good luck!
