Saw my girl Gamera lay 4 eggs two nights ago.
Put them in a tub with holes poked in the sides
one of the eggs is dented this am but not so badly
incubator doesn't have humidity control but tub of water is on bottom rack and it is 70 percent
lost 5 viable eggs last year due to faulty incubator
have tem set at 84 degrees, they are 3 toed box turtles
I have the lid resting on so when I open the door the temp isn't compromised
any suggestions?

Congrats & good luck
thanks I found out my internal thermometer was off by 5 degrees
replaced it with one that agrees with the machine, it is a new machine so it should work better
now I can stop opening and closing the door even if lid is on egg container its not good, set at 28 c

Thank you for your kind words, the one eggs that had a minor dent is now smooth. Eggs are blotching which is normal, now for the eternal wait. Don't really want a second clutch but there likely will be one in a month or so like last year.

If they aren't humid enough they sometimes pull in (or dent). Do you have moisture in the medium the eggs are sitting on?

Yes the vermiculite was moistened but eggs were laid in semi dry soil. I removed the eggs immediately and noticed the dent in one egg. Misted lightly and added water to medium, I have holes in side to prevent water rising too much. Dent is gone.
