So for the first time in 4 months we have sun! Yep! Sun, the real actual kinda sun, and Bob was lovin it. I snapped a couple of shots of him basking in the....SUN!

This is the best...do you think he is enjoying the sun?

Look at his funny bumpy nose. I keep hoping his nose will smooth out, but it ain't happenin.

And, of course, with the sun comes Bob's favorite...Newbies...Sulcata can't process sugar like we can, so in truth strawberries are not good for Sulcata. But Bob is big and gets a good varied diet so a strawberry now and then won't hurt him. But don't feed fruit to a smaller Sulcata.

Wow! Bob appears to be in Heaven, especially in that second pic!

Princess Leia got some great sunshine yesterday and loved it!

Now I know how you get bit! hahaha

I always love the Bob pics. If I ever meet him I will NOT be hand feeding him anything less than 12" long.

I see what you mean about him wrecking the grass with all the rain. An awful lot of soil showing through.

Great pics. TOM I hand fed Bert cactus today =]

Come to think of it...strawberry is a lot smaller then cactus...so that's still a bit more dangerous.

Haha. We had a "Who can hand feed the shark the smallest gold fish by hand contest." at a fish store where I used to work. I won.

Lost some blood though...

Question?
The whole fruit thing, I get it, but is prickly pear cactus fruit different? I feed that to livingstone pretty frequently... Once every week if its available.

Its very sweet. Have you ever tried it yourself?

When a tortoise comes upon an opuntia in the wild that is dropping its fruit, the tortoise will sit there and eat all it wants to.

We usually tell people not to feed too much fruit because it causes some sort of imbalance in the digestive tract that allows the parasites to "bloom." I have no idea what happens inside that wild guy's tract when he sits there and eats cactus fruit for an hour or so.

I have a huge grapevine in my backyard, and for a few weeks every summer there are grapes on the ground everywhere. I try to keep my torts away from it as much as possible, but once they get their minds made up, there is no stopping them, they gorge themselves. The same was true when I had a fruited Mullberry in my yard (gone now) they would eat a lot of fruit, there little faces looked like a kid at a pie eating contest. It never seemes to affect them adversely, and in fact they never looked happier.
Not saying it's good, but I think Bob could be safe with more than 1 little strawberry a week.
