no i was going to take him to his previous owner, in his original little house. I m worried about him being stuck in that for a week nd them mybe not doing ll the things I will hve changed. Do you think it will matter for a week? We will probbaly take him with us in it when we go away weekends, s I'd hve thought for 2 dys it would not matter much and we would take him outside in the day for an explore. I take it he would be ok with a 1 hr drive each wy?
There have been lots of threads on the forum about travelling with a tortoise, and they almost all end the same way. Generally, torts are much better off staying at home.
Keeping temps right is very difficult. Add to that the fact that torts are very easily stressed. Many torts are quite upset with car rides, and sadly show it by pooping in excess. They mostly need adjustment periods after they arrive at the destination, especially if placed into an unfamiliar enclosure.
There are also a few torts that seem to take the whole experience in stride.
The best option is have someone come in and check on him, and feed and change water.
Other keepers have cameras installed so they can look in on the tort whenever they want. For short absences, this is great! If the keeper sees anything wrong, a phone call to a friend or neighbor can solve the problem.
