Thank you! I have read that post so i know that the wood is an ok type to use, but i was wondering if it was too thin because its looks very thin?Check out this post. I think it will answer your question.
Which wood to use...
Hello everyone. So I'm going to build a 6'X2.5' wood table for my juvenile Sulcata Tortoise. I am confused on which wood I can use that is non-toxic and harmless to my tortoise. I was looking around but I couldn't find much on it so I thought I would ask the people on here...www.tortoiseforum.org

Its an outside enclosure and i will be using dry lokIs it for an outside or inside enclosure? Are you planning on painting or sealing it? Will it be used with insulation?
Ok thank you!I personally would go as thick as possible without it being crazy to lift/move. Especially depending on the species you are preparing for. I have a Russian and I wouldn't trust that thickness to keep him out of trouble, as I know he's a little bulldozer.

Russian tortoise. And okWhat species of tortoise is it for? Ur prob better off just going to home depot and grabbing a piece of plywood and have them make ur cuts for u. Id go at least 1/2 inch
Ok thank you!The Best Way To Raise Any Temperate Species Of Tortoise
I chose the title of this care sheet very carefully. Are there other ways to raise babies and care for adults? Yes. Yes there are, but those ways are not as good. What follows is the BEST way, according to 30 years of research and experimentation with hundreds of babies of many species. What is...tortoiseforum.org
My Best Night Box Design Yet
After much thought about what worked and what I wanted to improve over previous attempts, here is the latest version with a step by step pictorial on how I did it. It is time for my 2010 South African herd to move outside. They are moving into a 16x20' completely closed in enclosure. The...tortoiseforum.org
My Custom Tortoise Table Build Thread
Hey everyone, I recently purchased my first tortoise (Russian) and have decided that I should build a proper table. I really enjoy designing and building things (I am currently restoring a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air) so this should be a fun chance to stretch out my creative fibers. I went to...tortoiseforum.org

Ok thank you! Can you give me any good links to the right type of wood? This wood here is DEFINITELY NOT something you want to use for a tort’s outdoor enclosure. Way too thin, and the pieces are only 10 inches x 10 inches square. This is really only meant fir “crafty” projects.
Ok thank you! Can you give me any good links to the right type of wood?
I have both a home depot and lowes 5 minutes away from my house there right next to each other . Ill go tommorow and take a look at what they have. I dont have any pix but i plan on adding a humid hide box on one end and maybe something over part of the cage to provide shade. What is a nightbox?Do you have a local Home Depot or Lowes available? If you have an idea, or pix of what you plan to build, include a pix here. Both of these stores have good general contracting wood (pine) available. Are you making just an enclosure or an enclosure plus a “night box”.?
This wood is not made with an exterior glue and will de-laminate if it gets wet. You would need to seal it with a water proof sealer such as Spar varnish or pond sealer depending on the degree to which it will be exposed to water. Is this wood good for the walls of an enclosure? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078JQ11QY/?tag=exoticpetnetw-20
This contraption is made almost entirely out of $1 pine fence pickets...Do you have a local Home Depot or Lowes available? If you have an idea, or pix of what you plan to build, include a pix here. It probably IS too thin. "Veneer" means it's a thin layer to glue onto other wood or surfaces.Thank you! I have read that post so i know that the wood is an ok type to use, but i was wondering if it was too thin because its looks very thin?
