Noticed this on another forum, so credit goes to "kingnicky" if you're a member here.

Is this common? I know that the Japanese are willing to pay very high prices for American (continent) species. I wish I could read japanese; I have no ability to navigate these websites whatsoever.

Do you think these are smuggled, allowed out through corruption, or is Mexico allowing some exports now?

3 Japanese sites selling amazing looking yucatan box turtles. Very white heads, and they're all similar enough that they are likely from the same area.

Opened the pages in google chrome, to take advantage of google translate. I used the exchange rate of 77.5 yen/ 1 dollar. The Yucatan adults were $8,387 USD on the dizzypoint site, and are sold out. So they must be infrequently available. Hope they are going to wind up as part of a long-term stable breeding group. The easterns were about $1,800 USD,and florida box turtles were $2,555 USD.

Wow, some Yucatans here sold for $10,322 USD! Pics are not available for this ad though.
