I'm so sorry, Jasso. We've all had things like that happen, so we can all sympathize with you. Its not pleasant to say the least! But before you sell (if that's the reason you're selling), take a really close look at your husbandry and your pens, and make adjustments where they are needed. What did the Russian die of? And I haven't heard this said about hinge backs, but it is my opinion that they are just as good at escaping as the little Russians are. Don't beat yourself up about it...learn from it.

Don't give up on your hingeback. We had rain for almost a week straight here and my redfoots were even hiding from the downpour. I was feeding them and couldn't find one for the life of me and she being the gluttonous pig she is never came to eat which sent me into panic mode I frantically searched the entire enclosure to no avail. Then 2 days later I moved a piece of wood and noticed the sphagnum was really loose under it I dug about 3 inches down and there was my missing girl. the non digging redfoot being buried for at least 3 days. So don't give up hope they are masters of hiding.

My deepest sympathy in your loss.

So sorry to hear about your Russian. Sadly, sometimes things happen and we feel hopeless. Try not to let it get you down. Hope you can find your hingeback.

Hingebacks can tend to be a bit nocturnal,, look at night.. if you water part of the yard, and snails emerge at night, check there...

Glad you found the hingeback. Now you just need to go over it and find areas where maybe the tort could have gotten out at. Sorry about the
Russian, but sometimes unexplained things happen, just like with people. I know it hurts and your filled with "what ifs" and "if onlys", that's natural, too.
Death should be looked at as a learning and re-evaluating time, then move on to the future.
