There's one male that needs to have a new home, then there's 1.2 permanent residents. Trouble is, I can never find that male when someone comes to adopt him.
...and no, I will have to lend them a hand. I'm trying to actually PULL the grass, roots and all, because they don't eat much grass. But its a time-consuming job and I run out of ambition quickly. As far as the broad-leaf weeds go, the fillaree, plantain, clover, etc. it will take them all season, but they will have it pretty much eaten down by Autumn.
That's Fat Betty on the wall. She laid two eggs the first year I got her, then no more since then. I lined up all my Russian tortoises, took a picture and asked Danny to tell me which sub-species they all were. I only kept the ones that are the same sub-species as Fat Betty (I don't remember what it is), and it ended up being 2 males and 4 females...a good sized breeding group. But, sadly, I lost some during ensuing hibernations.
