Its my newest hatchie enclosure!
Was gonna keep it a secret until I could post pictures of the new baby, but I couldn't help myself! I'm getting an Antakyan/Golden cross baby from Danny once he's back from the expo! And sheeeesh am I happy that I asked about babies before he left, or I would be sorely out of luck!
The tub is 41qts, and it was Anouk's original tub, before she out grew it. This baby is smaller than Noushka was, when I got her though (I think
--don't have all the details juuust yet) so I am hoping she will stay in it longer than the 5 or so weeks that my mini tank did!
[on a side note, Nouk was 11 months old yesterday--and my bf was 20 lol]
If you notice, I put a piece of plexi glass over the cool side of the enclosure, which has in it, straight eco earth (dry, right now, but it will be kept moist when the baby comes.)
I am calling that my, "humid side" instead of humid hide. I think it works better at raising the overall humidity of the bin, as well as having an area that has higher humidity period. Anouk has a humid side, that I just recently added plexi too, and the change in humidity is great. It stays between 75-90% without being sopping wet, so I am not afraid of shell rot, but is high enough that I am hoping her few visits there a day will cut down her chances of pyramiding.
Plant placement isn't permanent, just kinda scattered right now. I'm adding some more around the edges too. Its just harder to do, because at this time in the year, everyone is getting in fall merchandise, and the nice green plants aren't stocked as well anymore.
...oh, and that little log hide is actually a hermit crab log. Its smaller, cheaper, and higher domed then most logs. Bout 1.5 inches shorter in length...Should work nicely for a baby. Those edible logs are great, I am picking one up too, as backup. The hermie log was just so darn cute, I couldn't resist.
Now, all I am missing is my lamp stand, fixture and Trex 100 watt UVB.
Oh, yeah. And my new baby!
I just LOVE the stand too. Its actually made out of ITSO cubes...You can get them at Target. It was a way for me to make a attractive looking stand that fit the bin, as well as allowed for my lamp to say where it was. (its easier to read in my living room, if its closer to the couch. I use such a small lamp, so I don't disturb the geckos)
Lemme know what you think!
Here's one of the only pictures I have of her. I was originally going to go with another Jordanian, but when I saw her, I just couldn't resist!
I hope Danny doesn't mind me posting this. Its his picture of course.
Isn't she pretty??????
