Trex developed some problem with their bulbs and have stopped manufacture of all bulbs until they can fix the problem. No, I don't know what the problem is and no, I don't know when they will start making them again. All I know is production has stopped, and I am just announcing this because there seems to be a lot of confusion about finding Trex bulbs. So that's the situation. If anyone knows any more than this it would be nice to share that information with the rest of us...

RE: bulbs

I bought one in July at Pets&ponds. I just sent them an email to know if my bulb was safe. If they give me more details, I will let you guys know. Thanks Maggie :)

RE: bulbs

So I have to ask maggie why did they stop making them, and do you know what the problem is? Sorry I could not help myself.

RE: bulbs

I spoke with Jimmy at Reptile UV for quite a while the other night, nearly two hours. Their back orders are due to Westron not being able to produce the "good & safe" bulbs they used to. Reptile UV has had to find other sources to manufacture the Mega Ray.

There has been a lot of talk on several forums that the Mega Ray and T Rex are the same bulb, so this may be a possible solution why T Rex is not available.

I have recently spent tons of time researching bulbs and I have come to the conclusion that the Mega Rays are the bulb to own. Please watch the video attached and I think you too will come to the conclusion that the External Ballast bulb may far out last the more common filament MVB bulb like their SB and others on the market. I really believe that in the long run the EB bulb is the cheapest UVA and UVB solution on the market!

I have purchased two EB bulb kits and a UV meter, so I will be able to report more information in the future.

I've talked to Westron directly, and they told me they have discontinued the Mega-Ray line, because it wasn't safe due to an issue with the bulb glass, but they have come up with a new line of light bulbs, which will be available early next week, which produce the same quality of UVB.

I asked them about ReptileUV, and they haven't confirmed if they will still be RUV's supplier, and some other brands are buying from Westron as well.

I'm considering buying Westron's new line of external ballasted bulbs, anyone had bad experience with EB bulbs?
