Based on stuff I read here on TFO and elsewhere, I made a welfare sheet that I use each week with my hatchlings and younger torts... with older tortoises (like my Russian) I don't fill everything out every time, but I still have a sheet for him so that I can track stuff (like his weight as we close in on his planned brumation time).

Below is Darwin's fresh December Sheet....

It lets me see 3 months' worth of data on any of my torts at a glance, taking the guesswork out of some parts of keeping them... I use the 'notes' section for reminders to myself about dates of wormings or other medical treatments or concerns.

I am by no means saying that it's necessary, or even useful, to anyone but me, but I thought I'd offer it as a possible starting point for anyone interested in doing something along the same lines.

I included a link to the pdf below in case anyone wants to download it:

I'd love to hear your thoughts on possible additions/subtractions to the welfare sheet.

    Thanks,

    Jamie

I thought the accuracy / relevance of tBMI was still up for debate? Has that been settled yet?

I don't think it's settled, but I like the looks of the background & math and it makes sense to me as a long-term tracking device for my torts... if Darwin's tbmi shifts dramatically from one month to the next I would consider it indicative of something being up.

I attached a copy of the sheet I was using to track cWTgr, SCLcm, and tBMI. I discontinued using it when it became a topic of debate. It's actually a spreadsheet so that I could run the calculations automatically, but had to save as a PDF in order to upload here.

Thanks for sharing, Jamie! I'm going to mull it over for a while before I can give you much feedback.

All of my shelled family are omnivorous (leaning toward carnivorous) turtles, vs. herbivorous tortoises... When I feed them wriggly things, there's often a quantifiable number attached to it. Especially if they're used to eating while soaking. Junior ate 2 crickets, 4 medium/large superworms, and 5 earthworms.

Some people might like using colors: Green for good. Yellow for needs improvement or attention. Red for high priority, critical care stuff.
