You'd be better off starting your own thread as any advice given to the original poster and you could become confused. maybe the moderators can move your posts.

Hi why is Winston my Russian tortoise always so hungry when he eats all his food I am tempted to give him some more
You need to start your own thread but you should give him as much as he wants.
Think of his shell as an upturned bowl and feed that amount to start with but of he wants more give more. Torts are grazers and should have fresh water and food available at all times.

That's because YOU posted on their thread, but not to worry, I have moved your posts to your own thread (and, new moderators, yes, you CAN move individual posts out of a thread) (and "Marmite" is now Ang@gb)

Hi why is Winston my Russian tortoise always so hungry when he eats all his food I am tempted to give him some more
The reason for this is because of where Russian tortoises come from. They are hard wired to search for food and eat as much as they can find because their time being awake (not brumating) is short. They have to hurry up and eat a bunch so that they will have the body weight to see them through the winter. Where they come from they only have half a year of being awake, the other half is spent brumating.

So, as long as your tortoise as a large area to wander around in and exercise, it's ok to let him eat as much as he wants to.

This is the caresheet you need which covers diet as well as everything else you need -
www.thetortosietable.org.uk is also a good guide to providing a varied diet.
