Sulcata Shell Question?

Her shell layers seem to be almost glued together? Is this ok/normal?

The new growth occurs between the scutes. A scute is each individual little square or design. So your tortoise's new growth started out as darker brown and the most current new growth is very dark brown. It also looks like he's a bit dry.
