After keeping this species since 1998, and attempting to produce offspring in earnest over the past two years, I'm happy to announce that after 140 days of incbation I have hatched my first Kinixys nogueyi! The second animal hatched a few days later- two more eggs left in the clutch. I hope you are well, go hingebacks!

Absolutely- it's a total labor of love. And labor it is.... The first year doing this, I got nothing, and now I'm be rewarded with an abundance of riches in the form of hatchling Kinixys.

#10 Pipped the next day. Yes Bill! 16 produced between Nogueyi and Homeana since 12-1-2019. Just when I thought I might have a multi-month break, I had a homeana lay 3 eggs two days ago. :) But I'm up for the task!
SO amazing!

Awesome! Amazing that these have no hint of the hinge at birth and that it develops later.
Yep, absolutely no sign of any hinge! I've always thought that the presence of a hinge was one of the reasons that Hingebacks were never popular- people saw the hinge as a flaw to the typical tortoise shell, but I certainly never thought that way.
