RE: So sad

I don't understand some people. Can anything be done about this? That sully has been abuse for some time now. He even has part of his front scute chewed or broken off. I could just SCREAM!!!

RE: So sad

Do we know anything about this or are the villagers just eager to keep the dust off of their pitch forks?

We know it has been "painted". We do not know it is a toxic paint. It may be something nontoxic.

We do not know how the anterior marginal scute damage occurred or under whose care.

Can anything be done? I am not sure anything needs to "be done". Like any of us has a potent say over any of this in the first place....

I do not paint my animals or advocate it, but reactions may be premature and excessive. Most of all, impotent.

RE: So sad

I was wondering too about the type of paint....if it is a non toxic water based type of color then the tort is, well, just colorful...

Re: So sad

She claims it's nontoxic. I still think it's ridiculous.

Well... the comments might explain the shell damage. It's diet is poor, too. Might just be a snack, though? Eh.

That's it? Wow. Read the comments.

RE: So sad

So nontoxic paint, then.

A head of lettuce for a shot/treat, but she is surrounded by grass and is outside.

Was abandoned or lost/found at a dog park.

Seems like someone who likes her now has custody of her.

Re: So sad

Two heads of lettuce a week + some strawberries a week sounds nutritional.

I stopped looking through the rest of her pictures. It was making me angry. I made sure to drop some good advice.

RE: So sad

If she has access to ad libitum grass, the lettuce and strawberries become largely irrelevant.

Re: So sad

In the event the tortoise doesn't get grass, I let her know that it should have it and should be the main diet source. Just in case.

RE: So sad

She sounds like a kid that wants attention and means no harm. Five years is a good amount of time to care for a pet for a child, and that implies some attachment on her part. Yet, we know how responsible most kids are. Likely the parents are taking care of it. We don't have much to go on as to their level of competence. I just do not like the iceberg lettuce, even as a treat. It suggests an overall lack of knowledge.

RE: So sad

theres not much you can do other then offer friendly non-confrontational advice and hope you make an impression enough for her to think twice about her care for her pet.

Re: So sad

She did reply back but she appeared annoyed. Understandable, really. If anyone ever gave me advice on my children, I would get annoyed but bit would make me think ;)

Indeed, so long as the grass isn't sprayed with weed killer or the like.

The nontoxic paint's a bit silly, but harmless.
