Hello,
Im looking for any information on two Studbook Rads 1318 & 1235.

I believe that 1318 (female) was hatched by Mr Zovickian in 2006. Sir, Thank you for the posts on the Studbook and its history. It is great info. If you have any info (parents, picks, or other facts) on my two Rads (1318 & 1235), my family and I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Hello Sir,

#1235 was hatched 20 July 2005 by Tom Motlow in TX. Its sire is #526 and its dam is #419.
#1318 was hatched 14 June 2006 by John Heidecker in FL. Its sire is #384 and its dam is #443.

I sold all four of those parents to those fellows who went on to become very successful breeders of Radiated Tortoises. Your tortoises have very good blood lines behind them. How about posting a couple of pictures so I can see how they look?

Thanks.

Thanks Bill! The info is greatly appreciated along with all your informative posts. Impressive bloodlines for sure. 1318 (female) is 21.9 lbs and 1235 (male) is 19 lbs. I'm very excited to add these to my group. I had both tested for Intranuclear Coccidiosis to be safe.

Very nice! Thanks for the pix. #1318 is very typical of the offspring produced by her parents. Although #1235 isn't as colorful, the two could produce very nice babies as he has great genes behind him.

Just a general question for my own education. I notice this species shell has "bumps" what would look like pyramiding in other tortoises but seem to be generally accepted. is that just the normal shell shape for Radiated Torts?

Good for you for screening for that. Just remember that a single negative result means almost nothing. You should shoot for at least 3 tests, 3 months apart. I’m my opinion you should test for 1-2 years especially on an older animal that has been in more than one collection. There is a published account of a pair of redfoots breaking with TINC ~14 months post exposure. I have now seen animals test negative 3 or 4 times and finally test positive on the 4th or 5th.

Yikes! I did not know that. Damn, My practice has been to test and then quarantine for at least 6 months before releasing to the group. The thought of my group having and catching it, scares me beyond words. Thank you for replying with that info and the education. I will keep it mind if I ever add on again. Luckily, these two have been with the same keeper since they were 3 months old. Thanks
