I genuinely encourage you and wish to you the best of luck. :D Please please post some pics of the habitat and the tortoises when you acquire them. Owning ploughshares must be a life-changing experience. ;)

Wow! Gorgeous animals! Good luck with them. The more CBB that are produced, the less demand there will be for WC.

There's no set rule as to how long they should be in quarantine ( self imposed ) for me if
Fresh WC ( longest - 6 to 9 mths )

LTC ( 2 to 4 mths )
At end of quarantine period and If they clear my tests - parasites ..........etc then I introduce to my existing herd if not back to isolation !!

Cheers

If you already own ploughshares, shouldn't you know the answer to this???

Well First off: i clearly mentioned that "i am going to acquire
Secondly: Then i mentioned that this was their ORIGINAL home meaning that this is not the home i am providing....
The habitat i am providing is different, they are kept on grass, have mulberry trees, grape vines, hibiscus and lots of cactus.

I do know, mine are fed on only greens, mazuri, hibiscus, cactus, mulberry leaves, grape vines...but i want to know what is best for them when they are producing eggs. And also maybe he can give me some extra advice since he has lived there for a couple of months where he collected data.

Extra calcium ....is always a good idea while females are producing eggs.....
Collards, and Turnip greens are both high in calcium.

I can give you a whole list of some plants they nimble and eat on their island but can you get them , grow them in enough quantity to feed 3 adults and x number of juveniles ? My guess is NO !!

I grow or have people grow for me what I feed my herd - even the good old hay ( as bedding and food for some ) are grown , dried and bundle before stored ( tried imported but result not good maybe from transit )

This is an ultra-rare sp ( I remember you mention they are already breeding - just continue with what previous owner do ) if you gonna rely on market green or what's connivence to you on diet I suggest you don't get the adults !!

Keeping , growing them is one thing - breeding is another level on it's own !!

Certain time of the year 50 -75 % of the time spent grazing !!

Cheers

They have arrived, they can graze and eat hibiscus, mulberry, grape leaves and cactus. I can provide this as part of their diet everyday...

Do smaller tortoises also graze? Like ones under 15cm

My lil guys graze, the smaller they are the more they want to hide so you need hiding places, plants, shade

WOW. Haven't been to the forum in a while. So how many do you have now? 6 or 7?

Keep pairs together and away from the others so you tract bloodlines....These are so so so rare.
