I need some expertise advice here to identify if this plant as shown on the picture can be planted as shades and edible for torts.?

Its hard to tell from the picture. Are the fronds stiff, or soft and grass-like? If stiff, then its some sort of agave. Would be hard to eat, but nice to hide in.

that doesn't look live agave. The leaves come out like a palm, so its not agave(i think).

I have no clue what it is but it looks cool. Kind of like Mondo grass with a stalk... I want some!
