Does he ever attempt to eat that substrate?
My tortoises would eat those white flakes..........
I'd change him over to garden soil and bark.

Looks fine for a Hermanni - maybe a little dry. Looks like there is a little bit of pyramiding happening (it's easier to judge from a side view photo), but not something I'd worry too much about.

Thank you all for your input, he's really not dry the little bigger just got out the bath legged it up his log and dive bombed in to the dirt! The lad is a looney but I love him. Just making sure I'm looking after him right :) he loves his food water and getting dirty :).
