What is a 'regular" Walmart fixture? Many Walmarts sell brooder lights that have ceramic sockets.

Well just any fixture overall that isnt sold at pet stores... Sorry for the misunderstanding.
So it has to have a ceramic socket?

With the amount of heat the light produces, it's best and safest to have your light in a ceramic light socket rather than plastic.

Yes, definitely should have a ceramic socket. Most of the larger dome fixtures sold at Walmart, Lowe's or Home Depot feature ceramic sockets so you're good.
