I have done both bake and boil both bricks and loose. Baking whole bricks is probably easier. Either way brick or loose I baked at 250 for around two hours. It does smell a little kinda a nice smell though and doesn't last long. Boiling I did it for about 10 minutes of actual boiling time. Be sure full cooled before placing torts and I would stir around so bottom layers are cooled to. I have also tried freezing but it didn't seem to work as good.
I used the bake method. Like Barb, I set the oven at 250, but can't remember if I baked it 1 hour or two. I used several 2-inch deep pans so that the coir was spread out as much as possible. Since the coir was moist I opened the oven several times to let the steam out.
