]HI
I have a friend that breeds Hermanns tortoises and he emailed me asking the following.....
Maybe you can help me with this one?
I have a baby, sibling of the one with triplets a few weeks ago.
It still has a yolk sac but it has a shell growing on the yolk sac.
Anyone on your forums heard of this?
Does it dry out and fall off?
It can't absorb because of the shell?
I guess i could cut it, only soft tissue connecting but baby may die from blood loss?
As you can see i put him on food dish after 4 days sitting in incubator hoping it would shrink and it its great.
It's trying to walk around but hind legs barley touch ground.skin dries...?.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I will attach the photos he sent me of the baby.
Thanks in advance from both of us.:).jpg
I'm having trouble uploading the images, I will keep trying.

This is a Greek not Hermanns-sorry-not that it makes any difference to the questions.

This looks like a malformed twin. We've had twins here on the forum before...you can do a search.

I think what Kelly did (stells) was to tie off the yolk sac, cutting off the blood supply, and eventually it withered and dropped off. You can use sterile dental floss.

You'll need larger pictures before anyone can really give an opinion.......

If you have a photobucket account, you can send the email to your photo bucket account and they will automatically upload it into your photo's then all you have to do is copy the IMG code and paste it in your thread

UPDATE_RE: HELP NEEDED A.S.A.P.!

Hi
Thanks for the help.
Thanks Dalano for the photobucket suggestion-i will open an account there as I think that would be easier.

Regarding the tortoise baby-my friend used the dental floss and as he tied it, it bled a little but so far so good, the sac is almost dropping off I think by the sounds of it.

Thanks for the suggestion on the tooth floss-always get good support here and we appreciate it

THANK YOU!!!!!!(on behalf of friend and tiny baby too!! )
