I think its always cool when you see these numbers and there is always one out of the clutch that grows way faster than the others..

For the first year,I diligently checked their weights weekly. I'm a little lazier now,and Now that they're older, and I know their habits more, I think monthly is fine. As they get bigger, they gain weight exponentially. My biggest yearling , a year ago, would gain 4 or 5g per week. Since last week when I weighed him, he's larded on another 60g. So in just a week 1060 to 1120g.

Interesting stats. Mine all started at around 24 grams in Aug/Sept of 2010. As of 12-21-11 I have one runt who is 185g and the rest are:
306
323
325
364
402
449
466
and 509

My little new one that hatched in May of 2011 is now up to 122 grams.

So beautiful, all of them. The smaller one in the foreground sure has a lot of light coloring. That must be one of the younger two. It always amazes me how differently they grow in size at the same age. What do you think contributes to their light color?

Others might disagree, but I believe the pattern is all genetic. The smaller ones, usually seem to have more white, but that's because the black pattern hasn't appeared yet. The older 5 are basically the same age, but two of them didn't grow well last winter, and were stuck in a holding pattern at about 60g. They didn't gain weight for about 4 months, and had that 1000 yard stare, but I finally prevailed, and they're back on track now, and all are doing great.

I think I agree with you about the genetics. Seems to me they start out very young with what their coloration will be. Glad your little ones finally took off with their weight.
