Hi everyone. I'm a turtle and tortoise lover. I have a Florida box turtle (now 35 years old) that I received for my 12th birthday. That was over 30 years ago. He started me a long line of turtles over the years. I have six box turtles (3 F, 3 M) and one Diamondback terrapin. I got a Redfoot Tortoise (2 1/2 years old, looking very much like a female to me) in July. She had been indoors the whole time in her first home and is somewhat pyramided. She's now outside enjoying the high humidity and temps of an Alabama summer. She is thriving. She's somewhat picky about food, preferring protein of various types (chicken, mealworms) and fruit. She nibbles on some grass and weeds in her enclosure. I'm surprised that she refuses to eat flowers of any sort (hibiscus, evening primrose, marigold) that I read are safe and popular.
