I am currently without a tortoise. My desert tortoise that I left with family in southern Calif. died this week. I had a leopard tortoise until 2 years ago and would love to have another. My young friend is not allowed a snake at his house and thought he would make an excellent box turtle owner. I'm open to suggestions and availabilities for box, leopard or sulcata. I would pay for shipping to Tampa.

Welcome. Are you looking for a tortoise or turtle for yourself or for your small friend? There are vast differences in the three species you mentioned. If you are wanting this animal for your friend, you may want to consider the size and room you'll need to accommodate the reptile. I wouldn't recommend a sulcata for your friend especially a beginner. A box turtle requires a lot of space also, along with a pond or source of water. Give us your ideas.
