Just like any other fish really. He hides a lot however! Anytime I've ever cleaned the tank he's never tried to bite. What's it like keeping one?

They are Axolotls! its a type of salamander that stays in its aquatic neonate phase its entire life. The pipes are hides, I decided to suspend them for easy floor cleaning. That's neat the way you have those pipes. What is it that's in your tank?
Years ago here in Florida you used to be able to purchase a special permit to have one. (piranha) Not any more. Even though it's been shown that our water temps regularly get too cold for them. When we get a true cold snap here. IT is crazy what pet store giants come floating up sideways. Still, I'd love to have at least one.
Yes, that is an oranda. I actually have one orange, one red cap, the black, moor, fancy tail some kind and a feeder. Looking to get a couple more, maybe lion heads or ryukins. Used to have koi when I had a pond. Those are some really nice fish. Am I seeing right, that black one is an oranda? Those are my second favorite, koi are my first. I love all animals it's safe to say. I have 2 dogs, a rotti and a boxer, 2 cats, both of those were rescue cases, I have my 125 gallon aquarium, a koi pond outside, all my torts, a nice colony of roller pigeons and up until last week I had like 30 chickens and 2 goats but I found the goats and chickens new homes. I think I have cared for just about every breed of dog (I do fosters and rescues a lot) I use to own large draft horses and a few Belgians, even had a pot bellie pig at one point (what a nightmare) I am a single mom now and work any hours so I try and keep my crew down to a manageable number now a days. I usually joke about being 2 pets away from a hoarding situation but I love all my guys and they are all spoiled.
Those are really neat. I don't think I have ever seen anything like that around where I live. Now when I was a kid I had my fair share of salamanders and some other things along that line. We use to catch these things, they were orange, got good size. And some other type of salamander like thing, they called them mud dogs or something. It's been so long I don't even remember. I mainly remember getting my butt beat when I would get caught w them in my moms house, lol. Newts, I think is what we caught, I will have to ask my brother, he will be able to tell me. Sorry, rambling. I do like your guys tho. They are Axolotls! its a type of salamander that stays in its aquatic neonate phase its entire life. I only have close-ups of them as babies but here you go.
