Hello all, I am new to this forum and to the world of tort's. Growing up I had a few box turtles and have 22 snakes currently. My boyfriend and I are looking into buying a Sulcata since I am personally allergic to animals with fur. Anyways, for the time being, we have been educating ourselves on the care for a Sulcata. Before we buy we want to make sure that we have a great enclosure for it. So! I was wondering if I can get suggestions, see pictures of your guy's inside and outside enclosures.

Thanks!
Kyrsten

Hi sulcata will grow from 24-30 inches the carapace length and 80-110 lbs, they will grow fast!!!..PLEASE you have to think about it 100x,i really dont want another sulcata to be placed in rescue/shelter..i have 12 inches sulcata and i'm keeping him in 5x10 feet enclosure for winter time..i have a basking spot,UVB,hiding area,a place to drink and soak..but outside enclosure is really better for this species..

I understand both of your concerns and this is something that both my boyfriend and I have discussed. We have been educating ourselves on Sulcata's for over a year now make sure that we can provide it proper care. We own our home so we can provide it with an outside enclosure full time once it is big enough for the time being we were planning to have a kiddie pool outside enclosure and once our roommate moves out that has dogs (5 pocket pit's). Size isn't something that concerns either of us. Thank you for your comments.

Hi Kyrsten:

Welcome to the forum!!

Tom, who lives in the high desert of Calif., has a new thread showing his new tortoise house. He has four pretty big tortoises, although they're not full grown yet:

Maggie lives in the Pacific northwest and she has an 80lb sulcata, Bob. Here's his shed (you have to scroll down):

And Dudley, my 100lb sulcata goes to bed at night here:

There are many, many more. If you just go through the "Enclosure" section, you'll get lots of good ideas.
