Constipation

For the last few days Squirt has been defecating a smaller amount than usual. I typically will soak once a day for twenty to thirty minutes. Since this started I bumped it up to twenty minutes three times daily. He has still been eating okay and acting okay, though. FINALLY he had a normal bowel movement tonight. Is it common for tortoises to become constipated? I know some species (i.e. cats) are more prone to it than others, but I wasn't sure if tortoises were included in this category. What are some foods I can feed him to help prevent this in the future?

I don't think you need to do anything at this point. As any animal, humans included, some days we have more to get rid of then other days. Once a day soaking for 20-30 minutes is all that is really needed too. Also, if you soak him in something big enough for him to do a lot of moving around, this will help get things moving through should he need help.
