Well i have had a cheap offer on a 6x2 viv dirtcheap should i do it i know most of you are not keen on vivs but if not a viv im going to look into a aquarium.....so i thought of this.....my worry is dodging the heat....is this possible with a good humid hide?
i was thinking about fitting with a small computer fan but would this bring down the temps?...
Thankyou!

I would also cover the first few inches of the enclosures glass to make it opaque?

I dont see anything wrong with it. it will good for keeping the humidity in. How much did you find it for?

Nothing at all wrong with a viv. It's easier to keep humid for the redfoot. If you are using a CHE for heat, you can put an inline dimmer switch to limit the voltage and control the temperature. I have my hatchlings in a viv and I'm more than pleased with it.

Sounds great!! If it get's to hot then wet down your substrate. I use a viv and it is ideal!!

Why are you worried about too much heat? It's inside right?

Yes but does he not need to cool him down?

Don't ever worry about what other people think. I have raised many tortoises in vivs or aquariums. I like them as they hold in the heat and humidity just fine...So go for it...and don't pay any attention to those who don't care for it...It's what you care for that counts...
