You can feed them manure tea or fish based organic fertilizer. Are they growing in a container or in the ground ? Perhaps moving them into part shade would help. What type are they?

I don't know what part of the country you are living in, but here in the Central Valley of California, the days are getting shorter and the nights are cooling down, so our trees are starting to think about losing their leaves for the winter. My Rose of Sharon also have yellow leaves, but I'm pretty sure its from not watering enough and the onset of autumn.

I was having the same problems with two of my plants (mine are tropical hibiscus). They are in containers. So I just packed up the tortoise substrate and plopped it on the top and watered well. Did the trick. They stopped turning yellow, stopped losing buds and are doing great. The tort substrate acted as a organic fertilizer and I don't think the extra water hurt. Hibiscus drop their leave or they turn yellow if conditions are not right for them (too much water, too little water, etc) here is a site that tells you about this. http://www.strictlyhibiscus.com/care.html
Hopes this helps.
