When I turned on the lights to my baby box turtle tub this morning, I was surprised to find three or four red wigglers that I had thought I fed my babies a few months ago, in their water dish chillin out. As soon as I turned on the lights, the worms ran away (in as much as a worm can run away) and went back under ground. I think this is awesome as it is a defining indication that the habitat is hospitable to lots of life forms. It is also reasuring in that, while my babies might not be eating the food I leave out, there is clearly a colony of "wild" food for them to hunt!
