Why does my tortoise have these indentations on her shell

I just noticed these indentations on the rear on my tortoise’s shell. It seems to be symmetrical on both sides of her shell. We live in the Phoenix area and she lives in the backyard with plenty of sun, grass and whatever leftover veggies we have. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks!

Looks like a normal sulcata shell to me.

Your sulcata had a dry start as a baby and it pyramided, as most of them do. Things got better as it grew and gained size, so the new growth smoothed out.

This tropical species needs a heated night box to sleep in. Night temps shouldn't drop below 80.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

Tell us about your girl. Have you had her since hatching? Do you know her age? And weight?

I love the dirt on her! It looks like she's been busy digging!
