I have two red footed tortoises ( both about 1 year old). Is weighing them important to know they're putting on a proportional amount of weight each month? If so what kind of scale should I use?

I bought a good scale at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It's good to keep track of their weight so you know they are eating and growing as they should

A kitchen scale should just fine for you. You can find them at Walmart, Target or Sears. Or you can order one online.

I recommend you invest in some good thermometers and humidistats also a laser heat gun, these are important to get the temps exactly right because many tortoises and gotten ill from being too cold and wet while others have accidentally baked to death from being overheated, and so make sure there isn't anything that could make them flip over in the basking light area like a plant or rock etc.
