A good estimator for weight is the Donoghue Ratio-
Shell length in centimeters, to the third power, times 0.191 gives you the target MINIMUM weight in grams (SCLcm^3 x 0.191 = WTgr)
So... 4cm should weigh about 12.2 grams, and 5cm should be 23.9gr. You can see that accurate measurements make a big difference.
To get an accurate SCL (straight line carapace length), push the tortoise up against a block or wall so the shell hits the block. Make a mark on the ground at the back of the shell. Measure between the marks. (You can also use calipers and other tools to get accurate readings. Measuring the plastron does not always give the same readings as the above methods and does not work as well for the Donoghue Ratio.
