I just got a new baby Russian Tortoise. I have read a few different care sheets and they say multiple different things about water. I've been soaking him in water up to about where his shell starts. Should I continue doing this for water or should I give him a water dish?

I would do both, for a baby daily soaks are good as an adult I only soak my russians weekly/every other week. I also think it is important to have water available to tortoises at all times so they can choose to drink when they want but also so they can use it to cool themselves and help regulate their body temp. This is my opinion, others will chime in soon.

Hi, my Russian tort is 5 months old, so should I soak him daily or just a couple times a week? I'm just not sure if he drinks or anything, plus his tank doesn't stay humid for very long, so I know soaking will help hydrate him instead. Is it even possible to 'over soak' them?

At that age I would soak daily.

You would over soak him if you treated him like a RES.. But a 20 min. warm water soak once a day will be just fine.

Tortoises drink very little water so you should prevent dehydration by bathing and leaving a fresh supply of water in the enclosure at all times
