Hey guys I'm in the Billings, MT area and I'm looking for a male Russian. Ideally someone in the area who is willing to stud out their little guy for a month or so. However I'm willing to take a rescue.

Hi James:

Since most of us believe in a quarantine period for adding new tortoises to existing tortoises, the only way a breeding loan would work would be if the male you get stays with you for a long time. You would have to quarantine him for, say, 6 months, then put him with your female.

In my opinion, you would be better off just buying a male Russian.

I agree with Yvonne here. In that russians for the part, are wild caught imports, they can harbor many nasty bugs that can affect the male or your female. Rescue a male, set him up away from your female, use methods of isolation that reduce/eliminate cross contamination, and start your breeding plans next year.
