Who would of thought! Interesting info. I forwarded this to my grand daughter who wants to be a biologist. Ken, I think you have too much time on your hands, maybe a couple more tortoises?

I've got 23 now. When Karen, (my wonderful wife) asked when I'll have enough, I told her that I'd let her know if it happens. Lol.

Well we both know that will never happen! Tortoises are like potatoe chips, one or two is never enough, give me the whole bag.

Turtles don't ave an anus. No reptile does. Birds don't have one either...

And they don't actually "breathe" through the cloaca, they absorb oxygen into their blood stream. Has nothing to do with breathing.

I was a little worried. I was starting to look at my turtle's in a whole new and weird light.

I don't know why you find it different that turtles can get air that way . Because some of the people I work with seam to try to get air that way , because they keep putting their head up their xxx ! Have a great tort day!

I do know people who ta;lk out of their anus, but no breathers yet.
