Hi all! I finally got into the reptile specialist today as their appointments are booked weeks out. My little Toby guy has pinworms and parasites which we are treating one at a time. Poor baby ?. He is a rescue and I have no knowledge of his previous life. Anyway, I am reading about Vetark’s Reptoboost which helps with stress and rehydration specifically after treatments and/or hibernation. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it safe? Is it necessary? Do you recommend it?
Thanks so much in advance!

I prefer Mediterranean Graze supplement personally because it is specifically formulated for the specific dietary needs as Russians but many people are successful with Reptoboost as well.

Thank you for your input! I actually use the Mediterranean Graze ?!! But to help with hydration, I'm really looking at the Reptoboost. I just dont want to give him fillers something that he doesn't need. I'll do some research. Thank you again.

Nice! So you are not worried about nutrients then. For hydration specifically I would suggest offering succulents like opuntia and aloe. That way he doesn't have anything unnecessary or not beneficial. Typically if a tortoise is eating regularly and has water available to it then it won't be severely dehydrated. In some cases a temporary period of soaking is a good choice if you don't know the tortoises history. In that situation if the soaking is successful, the tortoise can be considered well hydrated within a couple of weeks of regular soaking. So then you can stop that and continue to offer succulents occasionally to ensure they can stay hydrated and balanced.

Great thank you! He does love aloe. I'm growing my own now for him. Toby has grown to enjoy his soaks which I'm so thankful for. It definitely helps with hydration and your validation is priceless! I will make it part of our daily routine as he gets through his treatments. I cant tell you how grateful I am for the TortoiseForum and people like you who offer their piece of experience. Many thanks again!
