Sooo beautiful...I miss my snappers. The first thing Im doing after I get a house is starting back into aquatics (the thought of moving with millions of pounds of glass does not appeal).

I can't figure out why he has so much trouble biting the banana. If they can snap off your finger, why can't he bite a chunk out of the banana?

I'm curious why you would feed banana. I always understood that they were strictly carnivorous. Has his head always had that big dome to it? Something looks off to me. Might just be the pic though.

That's the epitome of "only a face a mother/father could love". Looks like a voltures head on a turtles body. I love your tortoises, but, soryy:( OMG that is just ugly. However, all creatures are beautiful, I just haven't found it yet in that one.:p

Is that dome where those powerful jaw muscles are located?

Impressive animal, Greg. I bet nobody visits your home, and casually notices him!
If you had me over for dinner, I wouldn't be much company. I imagine I'd be staring at him the entire time.

He loves bannas, apples, grapes, and his favorite is carrots. He most often gets live fish, worms, and mice. He has eaten dead snakes I have found, frogs, toads, and lizards also. He gets a variety for sure, lol.

He had just caught it, I think he was drowning it, lol.

He is built like that, it looks bigger when he is in predator mode!

Ummmm, bananas and mice. yummy!!
How do you clean your tank, or better asked how do you move him?
I saw a recent Turtle mand episode and he got one of those and it was about 150 lbs(give or take)
Massive, what will you do with this one if he gets that big?? Yes I know you have tiny torts too!
But I wouldn't be petting this bugger!

I got him as a gift from a friend in 2005, he was the size of a quarter. He will be seven this year. He is in a 120 gallon tank.

I drain all the water with a sub-pump, works great. I then scrub it down with soap and rinse extra good. I use six filters, they do a great job. I drain and clean it once a month. I grab him from behind the rear of his shell and just make sure to keep his head away from everything. He does get mad!

*laughing so hard I have tears, just imagining you holding him out and away and also trying to avoid anything he can lash out at*
