They're written by @Tom, a species expert, who is working hard to correct the outdated advice and misinformation widely available on the internet and from many pet stores and, sadly, some vets and breeders too
If you can spring for it home depot sells PVC sheets for like 80$ for a 4 by 8. But they are the most superior building boards. They are resistant to water , moisture , insects, mold, among other things. That being said it's very pricy. I built all of my enclosures out of plywood, clap boards, 2x4s, 2x6s, 4x4s, and once the enclosure is build I line it with 6 mil heavy duty plastic sheeting. Way cheaper and you can double line the plastic. I check every month underneath for leaks and I haven't found any yet. I also use the blue lawn tarp as well works well and is durable. This is all designed to hold high humidity. I use a garden hose that attaches to my kitchen sink to "water" the enclosures. So they can also hold a good amount of water. I also have one I built with 4 mil plastic sheeting holding about 60 lbs of drainage rock above a screen layer and substrate(for a proper filtration and water diffusion experiment I'm trying) . I would be happy to elaborate more or share pictures / ideas with you.
