Could you post a picture of his plastron and the back of his carapace?

hello,
thb at first sight.
Spot color head, little yellow cheek, front leg seems 5 nails.
with a view of the plastron would come out of doubts ... maybe.

It's either an Eastern, Testudo hermanni boettgeri or a Dalmatian, T. h. hercegovinensis. From the one photo it appears to be an Eastern but a photo of the plastron would tell more for certain.

How big is he-straight line carapace measurement?

Guessing about 4.5". I will get an exact measurement tomorrow. He's already tucked in for the night.

Should I measure the top of him or the bottom?

Measuring from the top is more accurate. At 4.5" if he is wild caught, he could be anywhere from 5-9 years old. If captive born, which is almost always a more rapid growth rate, he could be as young as around 4 years old.

He's exactly 5". Don't know if he was wild caught or not. I got him from a breeder last Novemebr.
