Im building a small portable pin for my baby sulcata, so that i can put him outside a couple hours everyday!
Instead of me having to watch him an hour outside daily!

Im building this out of 2X4,
Around 4 feet by 4 feet!
With a net top to keep some predetors out!

Does this sound good?
Any questions, comments, concerns,etc?
Let me know :)

Jacob, I found that wider is challenging to cover the top well without it sagging. However, I am sure there is a way. Post pictures when you are done, I would love to see. Note, The top is kinda heavy the way I built ours. We use three or four at a time during hatchling season. Next ones I build will be lighter wood. Good luck, Greg.

I'd use 2x10 or 2x12 instead of 2x4. 1x1" welded wire works well for the tops and holds its shape pretty well. I get mine at OSH.

Greg! Is it safe to assume that your boards are pressure-treated due to the humid FL weather? Awesome playpens!

:tort: Yes, atleast the side are, the tops are not due to how heavey they were, Cristie (Hopigirl) had a hard time lifting them when I was on the job. That is the exception, all other wood is usually pressure treated. Non treated usually warps and rots fast down here.

This is 4x4 made with 2x12. Cheap easy and fast to build.

Make sure you take in account the weight of wood, because the pen could get heavy once completed depending on the type of wood used.
